I honestly think it is better to be a failure at something you love than to be a success at something you hate.

Is Oprah Ugly?

Is he talking about me?

Being the most powerful woman in the media world hasn’t stopped Oprah Winfrey

from collecting critics. Some are quick to pan Oprah for misleading her fans, advocating a have it all

lifestyle beyond their reach. Decrying her flamboyance, they accuse her of creating an image that none can follow.

Behind the facade, her detractors accuse Oprah of being calculating and overly secretive. They like to portray her as

a master manipulator of the TV medium.

Well they would.

I wonder, if Oprah was a man, whether she would draw the same criticism?

Somehow, deep down, I get the feeling Oprah is resented because she’s a woman of influence, and an Afro-American at that.

Playing things her way, Oprah is an achiever. That’s something bound to draw attention

as much as rankle people begrudging her accomplishments.

For all her prestige, of course, Oprah is just an ordinary person beneath.

She is no beauty model and nor does she pretend to be.

Wisely, Oprah has even made her normalcy an asset. Despite the distortion of fame

and celebrity, Oprah keeps doing what so few do. She continues to remain relatable.

If we rate beauty as high cheekbones and a size 8 figure, Oprah isn’t especially beautiful. But, if you consider her determination to ennoble people’s lives by promoting:

  • A can do attitude
  • The value of reflection
  • A healthy self-image, and
  • Being a role model by doing our best

…then I would say Oprah Winfrey possesses a great deal of beauty.

Managing to be a successful professional in a tough industry, Oprah has brought dignity

to countless lives through her work. Which is why I believe Oprah is one of the most

beautiful people in the media today.

The world needs more people like Oprah; and we do too.
